The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The constitution was created in order to grow out of the problems with the Articles of Confederation and it established peace between the states. The constitution is the supreme law of the United States which is the source of all government powers and provides limitations on the government.
The Ammendments of the United States
1. Freedom of speech, press, religion, and to petition the government
2. Right for the people to keep and bear arms, as wellas to maintain a militia
3. Protection from quartering of troops
4. Protection from unreasonable search and seizure
5. Due process, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, private property
6. Trial by jury and other rights of the accused
7. Civil trial by jury
8. Prohibition of excessive bail, as well as cruel and unusual punishment
9. Protection of rights

* John Adams and Thomas Jefferson did no atteend the Constitutional Convention in 1787 because John Adams was ambassador to Great Britain and Thomas Jefferson was ambassador to France.
* The Constitutional Convention was organized to discuss all their problems. After days of intense debate the representatives agreed to make a system known as checks and balances. On September 17, the Constitution was signed by 38 men out of 41 men. All the states had to sign it in order for it to be ratified. Many states disagreed, for example, Massachussets disagreed with the first ammendment. The Constitution began in March 4, 1789.
* The Constitution consists of the preamble, seven articles, 27 ammendments, and the Bill of Rigts.
